About RenterSide

How we collect data

• We only read official property websites, including the leasing pages property managers run on their software providers (such as AppFolio or RentCafe). We don't scrape Zillow, Apartments.com or other listing sites. If you paste one of their links, we only use the property name in the link to find the official website.
• Before we read a website, we check its robots.txt and follow it — for the page itself and for every service the page loads its listings from.
• We check each page at most 4 times in any 24 hours (usually once a day) and wait at least 2 seconds between requests.
• If a website blocks automated visitors or shows a CAPTCHA, we stop. We don't use proxies or other tricks to get around it. We show a link to the official website instead.
• We record facts only: rent, floor plans, unit numbers, sizes, availability dates and the property's own wording of specials. We don't copy photos or listing descriptions.
• Price history, days listed and price drops are calculated from what we observed on the website, not estimated.

For website operators

If you run a website we read and want us to stop, email hello@renterside.com. We'll stop within 24 hours and won't read your site again. Renters who paste a link to your site will see that we don't cover it at your request.

Your privacy

We store your email address, your time zone and the properties you watch. That's all. We use your email only to sign you in and to send the updates you asked for, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

We use cookies only to keep you signed in. No ads, no tracking.

RenterSide runs on Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (website), Railway (background jobs) and Resend (email delivery).

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from My watches. That removes your email address, your watches and our record of the emails we sent you. Properties you added stay on RenterSide for other renters.
